This is the first lecture of the Campion Hall Research Seminar series entitled "Institutions: Understanding and Evaluating Them."

Khalil, based in Istanbul, is an award-winning photojournalist with 10 years' experience in conflict zones and founder of Frontline in Focus. Recently awarded a Google News Initiative award, which lead to the new initiative Frontline in Focus XR. Hail, based in Geneva, has been a humanitarian field worker in complex contexts for 10 years, working with UN Agencies and INGOs.

Executive director and co-founder of OjoPúblico, he is author of three non-fiction books including co-author of “The Swiss Army Knife of the Reporter” (2016), a handbook of investigative digital tools for journalists in Latin America. He has receive the Journalistic Excellence Award from the Inter American Press Association, two awards from the World Association of News Publishers (WAN IFRA) and the Latin American Prize for Investigative Journalism.

Sue-Lin is a correspondent at The Economist and host of The Prince, an eight-part podcast about China's leader, Xi Jinping. She was previously South China correspondent at the Financial Times. She opened the Shenzhen bureaus of the Financial Times and Reuters.

Seun Okinbaloye hosts “Sunday Politics” and “Politics Today,” two of Nigeria’s most-watched political programs and has interviewed some of Nigeria’s most prominent leaders including serving Governors, federal lawmakers, and former leaders.

Marcela Turati is the co-founder of the Mexican investigative journalism nonprofit Quinto Elemento Lab and the website Where Do the Disappeared Go? Turati is renowned for her investigations into missing people, enforced disappearances, massacres of migrants, and mass graves.

Caleb Okereke is the Co-Founder and Managing Editor at Minority Africa, a digital publication telling minority stories across Africa that is supported by Google News Initiative and NED. He's reported across Africa for CNN, DW, Aljazeera, Foreign Policy, The Guardian, and VICE News and has worked as an Editor with the New African Magazine. He was previously a Heidi news correspondent in East Africa based out of Kampala, Uganda and has worked as a consultant with Mozilla for the Pocket App.

At the FT, Dave Lee primarily covers ecommerce and the gig economy. His main companies of interest are Amazon, Uber and Airbnb. He is also a regular contributor to FT Magazine, where he writes about societal impacts of new technologies.

Narasimhan Ram is an award-winning Indian political journalist, specialising in investigative journalism. The former editor-in-chief of The Hindu, chairman and publisher of of The Hindu Publishing Group, he is now its Managing Director.
