Viktoriia Udaltsova
I am a second-year MPhil student in Politics (Comparative Government), researching how different war experiences and war trauma influence political engagement. My master’s thesis focuses on the case of Croatia. Born and raised in Ukraine, I moved to the UK for my undergraduate studies, earning a First-Class Honours BA in International Relations from the University of York. My undergraduate thesis explored disinformation and social polarization, and I particularly enjoyed modules on Public Opinion and Political Psychology, Democratic Representation, and Ethnicity and Conflict—courses that shaped my current academic interests.
Beyond my academic pursuits, I was a Chairperson of the York Student Think Tank. I have gained valuable professional experience through volunteering, internships, and work with NGOs, the Ukrainian government, and think tanks. I worked for the Ukraine’s National Media Literacy Project, interned with Teach for Ukraine and a Ukrainian think tank, the Razumkov Centre, and volunteered with UNDP (Strategic Foresight for Ukraine project), On Think Tanks, the Democratic Initiatives Foundation, and the Ukrainian Institute London.
