Should we lower - or raise - the voting age?

James Tilley, Professor of Politics, explores the issue of changing the UK voting age in a new BBC Radio 4 programme.

With increasing discussion in UK politics about the potential to lower the voting age from 18 to 16, Professor James Tilley is asking a different question: is there a case for raising it to 21? In a programme for BBC Radio 4, Prof Tilley asks if there is a strong case for raising the voting age in a society where milestones of adulthood are increasingly being delayed. Prof Tilley speaks to key political figures, like former Labour leader Ed Milliband, and leading researchers, like LSE's Lucinda Platt. He analyses the arguments for lowering and raising the voting age - and discusses whether UK political parties would support either option becoming a reality.
