The Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism has been awarded funding from the Open Society Institute Assistance Foundation for a project on ‘Mapping Russia’s Internet for Civil and Uncivil Society’.
The purpose of the grant was to provide support for a one-day workshop on 11 May 2007 on the methodology for examining the growth and use of the Russian Internet, specifically its role in hosting a range of political and social views not represented, or little represented in the mainstream media.
The workshop was attended by academics, journalists and several Internet experts from Russia.
