Professor Desmond King on Europes worst crisis since the Second World War

Date

Desmond King was interviewed on BBC Radio 5s Morning Reports programme (21 June) about the vote of confidence in the Greek government.

In the programme Desmond was asked what he thought would happen if the government did not win the vote, and he said that there would have to be an election, and there are currently no other parties with any clear alternatives to the governments austerity measures.

He added that he agreed with Olli Rehn, the European Unions Monetary Affairs Commissioner, in describing the situation for Europe as the worst crisis since the Second World War.

The interview can be listened to here (beginning at around 17 minutes in).
