Professor David Anderson offers comment as US President Obama visits Burma
On the eve of US President Obamas visit to Burma, a New York Times article (18 November) exploring the connection between the country and Obamas grandfather features a quote from David Anderson.
President Obama’s grandfather, Onyango Obama, served in Burma during World War II, and, as David notes, “Like many others, President Obama’s grandfather emerged from wartime service a wiser and more politicized person.”
