Professor David Anderson continues to comment on South Sudan conflict

Date

David Anderson continues to comment regularly on the troubles between Sudan and South Sudan as well as the internal strife in South Sudan. He recently appeared in the Newsweek Scotland programme of BBC Radio Scotland (28 April, 2012).

David said, “We had a situation where they came to independence last year among a great fanfare of celebration. Yet, what the Sudanese knew very well, both North and South, was that a number of border issues had not in fact been settled up to the time of independence.” The crisis now, David explained, is an outcome of that uncertainty.

David also explained the role of Chinese and American interference as well as the local militias in the recent troubles.
