Date

Archie Brown, Emeritus Professor of Politics and Emeritus Fellow of St Antonys - who has already received the W.J.M. Mackenzie Prize for best political science book of the year from the Political Studies Association of the UK for The Rise and Fall of Communism (Bodley Head, 2009; Vintage paperback 2010) - has just been awarded the Alexander Nove Prize of the British Association for Slavonic and East European Studies for the most outstanding book in Russian, Soviet or post-Soviet studies.

The judges observed that The Rise and Fall of Communism combines erudition, scholarship and a clear, engaging style of writing and described the book as a work of great scope and subtlety.
