New study by RISJ on news access in the UK

Date

Both BBC News online and Reuters (9 July 2012) covered a Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism survey on news consumption habits in Britain, the United States, Germany, Denmark and France.

According to the study, people in the UK watch or listen to less news than Germans, French and Americans. Furthermore, UK readers have less interest in politics and more interest in celebrity news than their European counterparts.

The differences can be partly explained by the specific profile of the UK news market. The study also looked at the influence of social media and online subscription on news access.
