Ricardo Soares de Oliveira has been interviewed by Rana Mitter on BBC Radio 3's 'Free Thinking' programme (30 June) on the subject of his recent book: Angola.
Ricardo was asked why he chose to study this particular country, and he replied that it is a country of paradoxes: just 10 years ago it was seen as a 'failed state', after a civil war that is estimated to have killed around 1,000,000 people, but now it is possible to sit in a 5-star hotel and observe an influx of activity and investment from China and Portugal.
