Dr Jonathan Leader Maynard comments on proposed capture of Mosul

Jonathan Leader Maynard was interviewed by for the David Prever programme on BBC Radio Oxford (17 October) about a co-ordinated attempt by Iraqi, Kurdish and Western forces to capture the city of Mosul from ISIS.

When asked why a potential victory at Mosul would be so important to anti-ISIS forces, Jonathan said, “A huge reason why this organisation is so dangerous is because it very rapidly (in 2014) gained such apparent momentum.”  He added, “So anything that seems to be a significant loss for the organisation […] is very politically significant.”
