Dr Chris Ballinger publishes new book on House of Lords reform

Date

Chris Ballinger, a DPIR alumnus, recently published a new book entitled The House of Lords 19112011: A Century of Non-Reform.

The publication, which is based on work completed for his DPhil thesis, analyses in detail the principal attempts to reform the House of Lords over the last one hundred years. The study challenges many of the existing understandings of the history of House of Lords reform and the reasons for success or failure of reform attempts.

The book is now available for purchase through Amazon here.

Chris Ballinger also discussed the publication on BBC Parliaments BOOKtalk programme (the link is available in the UK on iplayer until Saturday 15 December).

Chris Ballinger is currently the Academic Dean of Exeter College, University of Oxford.
