Dr Angela Cummine comments on the need to consult citizens on Sovereign Wealth Funds

Angela Cummine has been quoted in an article for The Business Post (25 June) on how the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund should best be used, in which she cites the example of Norway and its government’s efforts to consult the nation on how best to use their sovereign wealth fund.

“Norway didn’t go far enough, really,” Angela said.  “It never really opened the debate to all citizens.  It held parliamentary hearings, it had experts present to the Graver committee, but it never went to that full extent of popular participation.”
