DPIR’s Professor Paul Chaisty named Head of the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies.

Professor of Russian and East European Politics Paul Chaisty has been appointed as Head of the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA).

Professor Chaisty joined the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA) and the Department of Politics and International Relations in 2005, following a three-year appointment in Politics at Pembroke College, Oxford.

Before that, he taught at various UK universities including Leeds, York, East London, Royal Holloway and Essex.

He took over as Head of OSGA on 1st September from Professor Christopher Gerry.

He said: “It’s a good time to take on the Headship of the School. We’ve made a number of exciting appointments in recent years, and the new DPhil programme and MPhil in Global and Area Studies has transformed the School’s identity.

“I look forward to building on the close relationship between OSGA and DPIR, which I have benefited from.”
