DPIR's commitment to Academic Freedom

Date

The responsibility of universities to maintain the principles of academic freedom and freedom of speech has been much discussed in recent months: generally, with the implications of the Counter-Terrorism and Security Act 2015, and specifically at Oxford with the 'Rhodes Must Fall' campaign.

The Department of Politics and International Relations, and its Sub Faculty, have formulated and endorsed a Charter of Academic Freedom, which will frame our policy and practice regarding all aspects of teaching, research and academic administration.  The Charter is published here.
