DPIR retains top UK spot in QS World Rankings 2020

We are proud to announce that the Department has retained its place as first in the UK for Politics and International Studies in the 2020 QS World Rankings by Subject.


Oxford’s place as one of the top universities in the world for the study of Politics and International Relations has been once again recognised, as we are ranked fourth in the world for the subject.

Louise Fawcett, Professor of International Relations and Head of Department, commented: 'We are delighted to learn that our position in the 2020 QS World Rankings has once again reflected the immense energy of our staff to ensure the best experience for our students as well as the highest standards of excellence in research and publications.’

DPIR is one of the largest centres for research and teaching in the subject the UK, offering two undergraduate courses and eight DPhil (PhD), MPhil and MSc programmes at the postgraduate level. DPIR has a strong interdisciplinary ethos which is reflected across the three areas of international relations, comparative politics, and political theory, and harnesses them to achieve a wider understanding of political power and process within political systems and between them.
