Archie Brown interviewed about whether political leaders need to be tough

Date

Archive Brown was interviewed in a blog for the Washington Post (12 September) entitled Do our political leaders have to be tough?

In the interview he said, "It’s a bit primitive in a way. The whole clan waits on word from the chief. I think we should have moved beyond that. On the whole in a parliamentary democracy (and a presidential system is of course different), there is that collective leadership. But there is a tendency for people in the mass media to say, 'Why isn’t the prime minister doing this, that or the other?' Rather than saying, 'Why isn’t the government doing this, that or the other?'"
