Tomoko Okagaki
Tomoko Okagaki (Ph.D., The University of Michigan, 2005) is Professor of International Politics at Dokkyo University in Japan and author of The Logic of Conformity: Japan’s Entry in International Society (The University of Toronto Press, 2013) and Basis of International Politics: Foundational Concepts and Theories (Seizansha, 2021). Her research interests include, inter alia, state socialisation, comparative regionalism, and political thoughts of international relations. She is a former visiting scholar at the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs (2007-2008; 2018-2019) and at the Reischauer Institute of Japanese Studies (2009-2010), both at Harvard University, and professeure invitée at l’Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and L’institut national des langues et civilisations orientales (2014-2015). Her research focus at Oxford will be on British approaches to the theories of International Relations and international politics of “reconciliation.”
