Ninar Fawal
Ninar is Research Assistant on the LSE Middle East Centre project 'Legitimacy and Civicness in the Arab World.' She is also a writer, editor, and internal coordinator for Arabi Facts Hub, a platform that uses data analytics to analyse and counter the impact of disinformation and misinformation in Arabic content. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in International Relations and Political Science, and holds an MPhil in International Relations from the University of Oxford. Her MPhil thesis explored Arab countries' diplomatic normalization with Syrian President Bashar al Assad, with a focus on Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.
Prior to studying at Oxford, Ninar was a James C. Gaither Junior Fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, working in the Middle East Program. She has also conducted research and editorial work at the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP), Arab Reform Initiative, G7 Research Group, and other foreign policy organisations.
Ninar is interested in revolutions, authoritarianism and repression, gender, and mis/disinformation in the Arabic-speaking world and more broadly.
