Joseph Ward
I am a DPhil in Political Theory at Corpus Christi College and the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Oxford.
My work sits at the crossroads of intellectual history, black critical theory and methodology in political thought. My DPhil project focuses on the methods used by black scholars after the black studies movement. In particular, I am interested in the twin concepts of 'interdisciplinarity' and 'disciplinarity' and how they have been influential in both normative philosophy and Caribbean history.
I have reviews published in Millennium and Antipode Online.
I have taught the Theory of Politics, International Relations and the Dissertation papers at St Edmund Hall, Oxford and Somerville College, Oxford.
Before my DPhil, I completed an MPhil in Political Theory at Somerville College, Oxford and a BA in Politics and International Relations at the University of Exeter and the University of Munich (LMU). I also worked as an editorial project assistant in the archive of the largest newspaper and magazine publishing company in the East of England.
Besides from my studies, I was a Culture and Ideas Editor for the Oxford Political Review and have served as Secretary of Corpus' graduate community. I convene the Oxford Black Thought Seminar.
My studies at Oxford have been generously supported by Corpus Christi College, All Souls College and my department.
