Elisabeth Tamte
Elisabeth Tamte is a first-year MPhil International Relations student. Her research focuses on international organisations, especially the ways their rules, structure, and decision-making processes are influenced by social constructs such as norms, values, power relations, and identities.
Originally from Minnesota, Elisabeth graduated from the University of Virginia in May 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Global Security and Justice and minors in Economics and Foreign Affairs. While a student at UVA, Elisabeth provided research assistance for the Miller Center on their Presidential Recording project, focusing on the Nixon and Johnson administrations. Elisabeth also had the opportunity to intern in the Bureau of International Organization Affairs at the US State Department in the fall of 2022. In this role, she drafted policy position papers on topics relating to the governance of UN agencies. Elisabeth credits this experience with developing her interest in exploring questions of global governance and integrating research insight into international institutions.
