**** PLEASE NOTE THAT BEV IS CURRENTLY ON MATERNITY LEAVE UNTIL JULY 2025 ****

As Communications and Engagement Manager I develop and implement an effective communications strategy that aligns with departmental priorities, and lead the Communications and Events team to deliver that strategy.

I oversee all departmental comms channels, including: website, social media, internal communications, events planning, fundraising campaigns, alumni engagement, marketing for recruitment, scholarships and programmes, research and media. I am responsible for making sure my team delivers high quality content across multiple channels, and successful events that appeal to a wide range of attendees; both internal and external to the Department. My responsibility for managing internal communications across the Department means ensuring we share information clearly and effectively, and I advise colleagues on best practice.

I am the main point of contact for media enquiries (working with the Public Affairs Directorate) and offer guidance to members of the department who are involved in media relations.

Prior to joining the Department of Politics and International Relations (DPIR) in August 2023, I worked as Communications Officer for the Department of Economics, (University of Oxford) and before that as a Marketing and Communications Officer at Birmingham City University. My first role at Oxford was in Alumni Communications at Lincoln College, Oxford (2012-2015).

I have delivered various print projects, high profile events, social media campaigns, press releases and creative digital content, including a flagship film for the Department of Economics.

Responsibilities

My role focuses on:

  • DPIR communications strategy;
  • Managing internal communications across the Department;
  • Project management, including website development and departmental publications;
  • Overseeing social media content and other channels representing the Department;
  • Press releases and media liaison;
  • Communications best practice, policies, advice and training;
  • and line-management of the Website Officer and the Alumni and Events Officers.
