Baptiste Alloui-Cros
MA (Sciences Po), MA (KCL)
Research Topic:
Baptiste Alloui-Cros is a DPhil student in International Relations under the supervision of Professor Dominic Johnson (Oxford) and Professor Kenneth Payne (King's College London). His research focuses on the intersection of AI and strategic thought, and examines how wargames can be used as a bridge between those two areas to inform strategy. Relying on an interdisciplinary approach including insights from strategic theory, wargaming, psychology, and machine learning, his work has a strong experimental component. It is also being informed by an expertise in multiple strategy games (notably chess, but also Poker, Go, Diplomacy...) and how AI impacted the way people play and think in these games.
Prior to studying at Oxford, Baptiste received an MA in International Security from Sciences Po Paris as well as an MA in War Studies from King's College London, where he received the award for top graduating student. He also co-founded the Strand Simulations Group, a professional wargame design company, and worked as a wargame designer and advisor on AI & wargaming in the Defence Industry.
