Do you and some colleagues have an interdisciplinary research idea to get off the ground? Not quite ready to apply for external funding?
DPIR has a record of success with this scheme, which offers £40k for 18 months (starting in November 2024), to establish interdisciplinary communities and position them for significant external research funding. Hubs need to develop links with stakeholders and/or policymakers with a view to “planning for impact” (i.e. promoting and exploring engagement opportunities and knowledge exchange.) Businesses engagement is encouraged.
The £40k could be spent on e.g: PI buy-out (up to £5k in total), workshops, research assistance / admin support, and web development / engagement.
The PI must demonstrate research excellence and leadership experience. Researchers from other divisions and universities/research organisations can participate, but the PI must be based in one of the Social Sciences Division’s departments.
Please send a one-page Expression of Interest by email to the Research Facilitation Team by Thursday 25 July 2024. (A departmental sift may be required - only three applications per department are allowed).
Funder deadline: Wednesday 25 September 2024, noon (via IRAMS).
Please email the Research Facilitation Team at an early stage for guidance and support. Examples of previous successful applications from DPIR are available.
