Timothy Power appointed as new Head of the Social Science Division
Timothy Power will take over from Sarah Whatmore from 1 October 2021.
The new appointment was confirmed by the University Council and officially announced on 7 June 2021.
Tim is Professor of Latin American Politics at DPIR, current Head of the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies, and a Fellow of St Antony’s. He has taught at Oxford since 2005.
Tim’s research interests include democratisation, presidentialism, comparative political institutions (parties, legislatures, and elections) and the politics and government of Latin America, especially Brazil.
Sarah is due to step down as Head of Division on 31 July, before Margaret Stevens takes over on an interim basis.
