His latest book, Measuring Peace: Principles, Practices, and Politics, is one of six contenders for the prize. The book aims to address the challenge of creating sustainable peace by confronting an uncomfortable truth: despite the enormous amount of money and resources spent each year on peacebuilding, these efforts are hampered by the lack of effective means of assessing progress towards the achievement of a consolidated peace.
The CRS Book of the Year Prize recognises ‘research that is contemporary, exceptional, and world leading, and which provides an invaluable contribution to the literature on conflict and peace studies, very broadly defined’.
