Reuters Institute of Journalism receives Ofcom research grant
As a follow up to the recent RISJ publication What`s Happening to our News, examining the impact of the digital revolution on the economics of news publishing in the UK, Ofcom has commissioned the Reuters Institute to conduct research into the Future of Local News.
The project will have two main components:
1) To investigate the applicability to local news of the funding solutions offered in What`s Happening to our News
2) To conduct a case study of the Swedish system of press subsidies and assess its relevance to the British case.
The findings will be published alongside Ofcom`s report on the Future of Local News, which will, in turn, contribute to the governmental review of the Future for Digital Britain led by Lord Carter.
