Registration open for `Oxford Workshop on History, Society and Politics in Portugal and East Timor`

Registration is now open for `Oxford Workshop on History, Society and Politics in Portugal and East Timor`.


This workshop focuses on contemporary Portugal, the country that began the Third Wave of democratization in 1974, and East Timor, a former Portuguese colony that is struggling with the challenges of democratization today. The first part of the workshop will concentrate on the history and dynamics of regime change in East Timor. The second half will focus on changes and continuities in Portuguese politics since the revolution. The invited speakers include both scholars and political actors with first-hand knowledge of the issues to be discussed.

The workshop will take place on Friday 16 November 2007 at Nuffield College (closed session, by invitation only) and on Saturday 17 November 2007 at the Department of Politics and International Relations, Manor Road building.
