Rebecca Engebretsen interviewed about Angola’s black market currency problem

Date

Rebecca Engebretsen has been interviewed for the ‘Morning Edition’ radio programme on NPR (17 October) about a currency crisis in Angola brought about by the recent drop in the price of oil.

Rebecca says, “Oil stands for approximately 98 percent of Angola's exports. So most of the dollars that Angola - or for other foreign currencies that Angola gets is through oil.”

She adds, “And that's very problematic for Angola, particularly because it's so dependent on imports.”
