Professor Rana Mitter comments on protests in Hong Kong

Date

Rana Mitter was interviewed on BBC Radio 4s PM programme (29 September) about the current protests in Hong Kong.

He talked about how the 'Occupy Central' movement and the central authority of Beijing are approaching the current protests from very different perspectives: Beijing sees the consessions towards democracy that it has already granted to Hong Kong as considerable, whereas there are many protesters that identify with the more democratic culture of cities such as Seoul, Tokyo and Singapore who disagree.
