Professor Ngaire Woods at the World Economic Forum in Davos

Date

Ngaire Woods participated in a programme entitled The World Debate - Reinventing Capitalism for BBC World Service (27 January), recorded at this years World Economic Forum meeting at Davos.

Ngaire asked the panel to comment about the short-termism of capitalism, and pointed to the gap between the short term planning of the publicly-owned company (with CEOs generally staying for 3 to 4 years, shareholders shares changing hands around 4 times a day, and boards not generally being independent) and the need for a longer view on the companies that fire capitalism.
