Professor Ngaire Woods on the Hungarian economic crisis

Ngaire Woods was interviewed on BBC Radio 4 (11 January) on the Hungarian economic crisis and the possibility of bankruptcy without a bail out from the IMF or the EU.

Ngaire suggested that the Hungarian governments response to its current economic crisis has been a nationalist one, but while its rhetoric may have been popular, the government is finding that it cannot deliver on its promises. She then discussed some of the options facing Hungary in the days ahead, and the likely path of negotiations between the IMF and the Hungarian government.
