Professor Margaret MacMillan presents a BBC Radio 4 documentary series on WWI

Margaret MacMillan will be presenting a BBC Radio 4 series charting Europes descent into war in 1914. The series, entitled 1914: Day by Day will air in 43 daily four-minute episodes from 27 June until 8 August.

In the first episode, Margaret tells the story of the events leading up to the First World War, beginning with the Archduke Franz Ferdinand's visit to Bosnia for military manoeuvres. Each episode draws together newspaper accounts, diplomatic correspondence and private journals from the same day exactly one hundred years ago, giving a picture of the world as it was experienced at the time.
