Professor Giovanni Capoccia wins Prize for the Best Paper in Comparative Democratization

Date

Giovanni Capoccia has been awarded the Prize for the Best Paper in Comparative Democratization presented at the American Political Science Association in 2009.

The title of the paper is The Historical Turn in Democratization Studies. A New Research Agenda for Europe and Beyond, and was co-authored with Daniel Ziblatt (Harvard University). The paper will be published later this year as the introductory article of a special double issue of the journal Comparative Political Studies. The special issue, guest-edited by Capoccia and Ziblatt, proposes a new approach to the comparative study of democratization and includes several empirical contributions applying the framework to the development of democratic institutions in Europe.
