Professor David Anderson on escalating tensions between Sudan and South Sudan

Date

David Anderson took part on Al Jazeeras Inside Story (12 April, 2012), discussing the conflict between Sudan and South Sudan together with representatives from the two countries.

David said I dont think either side can afford a war. I dont think either side really wants a war But I also think that neither side knows how to stop a war.

David discussed the possibility of proxy war and the rather remote possibility of a new peace deal between the two countries. What I think were seeing, he said, is the unravelling of the CPA (Comprehensive Peace Agreement) on issues that were not settled at the time.
