Professor David Anderson on empowerment of women in African politics

David Anderson took part on Womans Hour programme on BBC (13 April, 2012) talking about the empowerment of women in African politics.

Regarding the increase in womens participation in politics, David noted that most of the recent cases of successful African women have come from elite backgrounds and have had the benefits of an international education. He said what we really need is the next step, where women from less elite backgrounds begin to emerge in politics in a positive and productive way.
