Oxford student wins global debating championship
The Jewish Chronicle (04/01/2012) reports that Ben Woolgar, a 20 year old Oxford University student studying Politics, Philosophy and Economics at Balliol College, has been crowned Best Speaker in the World at the World Universities Debating Championships in Manila.
A former teenage debating champion, Ben said It was a pretty phenomenal surprise but obviously a huge honour. Mostly, it was just a fantastic feeling. It wouldnt have been possible without my mentor at school, Max, and my England Schools team coach, Debbie who, as Jewish debaters themselves, Im sure are very proud
