Maria Banda awarded prize from The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation

Maria Banda, DPhil candidate in International Relations in the Department of Politics and International Relations, University of Oxford, and J.D. Candidate, Harvard Law School, is one of fifteen new Scholars to be awarded $150,000 by The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation.


The Scholars are to advance research on topics including the environment, natural resources and energy, communications, international trade and vulnerable people. They are all actively engaged in their fields and expected to become leading national and international authorities on issues that affect our local and global societies. Maria currently studies the evolution of the international responsibility to protect civilian populations in the context of the War on Terror with a view to extracting broader lessons for Canadian diplomacy.
