John Lloyd on Wadah Khanfars resignation from Al Jazeera

Date
John Lloyd has written an article for The Financial Times (4 November) on the rise of the Qatar-based Al Jazeera news network, and particularly its charismatic former Director General, Wadah Khanfar.

John writes: Under his watch, Al Jazeeras production and slick presentation values have become as high as any; sometimes, it seems, higher. An estimated 40 million people watch the Arabic-language version; its younger sibling Al Jazeera English, launched five years ago, is available in more than 220 million homes worldwide. Turn on the station and you will see generally youngish and comely men and women shifting between fast-moving news stories with practised ease.

Khanfar stepped down in September, however, to be replaced by a member of the Qatari royal family.
