Johannes Lindvall has been awarded funding by Helge Ax:son Johnsons Stiftelse for his project ‘The Politics of Welfare Reform in Central and Eastern Europe`.
In the last two decades, reforms within existing social and labour market programmes have been one of the most prominent political issues in Western Europe.
The aim of Johannes`s project is to explain why the nature of welfare reform processes varies among Central and East European countries. For a long time, social scientists have studied ‘reform` in Western Europe and the `transition` from socialism to capitalism in Central and Eastern Europe separately. This project attempts to bridge the divide between these two fields of research.
Johannes Lindvall is Samuel Finer Post-Doctoral Fellow in Comparative Government, Lincoln College.
