Gavin Williams receives 2014 African Studies Association UK Distinguished Africanist Award

Congratulations to Gavin Williams, who has received the 2014 African Studies Association UK Distinguished Africanist Award at the ASAUK biennial conference last week at the University of Sussex.


At the presentation, the President of the ASAUK made reference to Gavin's 'contribution to early career academics', and the letter of nomination said that it was 'in recognition of the significant contribution you have made during four decades of research and writing on the political economy of Africa. Our nomination also recognises your inspiring role as a teacher and research supervisor, as well as your leadership in the field of African Studies more broadly.'

Gavin Williams was Fellow and Tutor in Politics and Sociology, St Peter's College, and Lecturer in Politics, University of Oxford 1975-2010.
