Sudhir Hazareesingh has been interviewed for France Inter's "La Marche de l'Histoire" programme (24 October) about the Mémorial de Sainte-Hélène: a book which shaped the legacy of Napoleon Bonaparte.
Although the book by Emmanuel, comte de Las Cases was based on numerous conversations he had with Napoleon on the island of St Helena, historians have had difficulty in establishing the veracity of what Napoleon is quoted to have said.
Sudhir talks to Jean Lebrun about the new publication of an original handwritten copy of this book which was recently discovered in the British Library, which sheds new light on the debate.
