Date

An article on the Reuters website (16 September) about the Scottish referendum included comment from Stephen Fisher, who looked at 16 constitutional referendums held worldwide over the past 40 years and found that in 12 of them, the average yes vote reflected in opinion polls was not delivered in the voting booths. After the referendum took place (18 September), Stephen was also quoted in an article for the the Guardian (20 September) on the no vote in Scotland, which noted that socio-economic factors were a stronger driver in yes support than party affiliation: http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/sep/19/scottish-independence-opinion-polls-referendum-vote

Reference was also made in The New York Times (19 September) to a blog post that Stephen wrote entitled 'How accurate will the Scottish independence referendum polls be?'
