Dr Sophie Heine on French elections

Date

Sophie Heine commented on the implications of French President Francois Hollande securing a legislative majority in an article in the Los Angeles Times (10 June, 2012).

Sophie said, "Reaching a majority in the assembly would clearly give Hollande more legitimacy to carry out a more radical policy both at home and at the EU level. The political and symbolic weight of France in the EU is still very substantial.”

The article goes on to discuss the changing political constellation in France that started from the victory of Hollande over Sarkozy.
