Dr Scott Blinder responds to new data showing decline in net migration to UK

Date

Scott Blinder has appeared in a number of media outlets commenting on recent data revealing that net migration to the UK has fallen considerably.

The Office of National Statistics announced that net migration had decreased from 247,000 in 2011 to 163,000 last year; the Government has pledged to bring the figure down to tens of thousands by 2015. Scott noted, however, that reaching this target will still be very challenging, requiring additional deep cuts in foreign students as well as work and family visas.

Scotts comments can be found in the Telegraph (28 February) here, in BBC News (28 February) here, and in the Daily Express (1 March) here. He also appeared on BBC Radio 4s Six OClock News (28 February), which can be heard here at around 24:50 on the iPlayer clock.
