Dr Scott Blinder interviewed on Government Immigration Targets

Date

Scott Blinder, senior researcher for the Migration Observatory and DPIR associate member, has featured in The Financial Times, BBC News online, BBC Radio 4, BBC Radio 2, Radio LBC 97.3, The Daily Express, The Daily Mirror (twice), The Daily Telegraph (twice) and The Daily Mail, commenting on new research from the Universitys Migration Observatory which suggests that the Government will not be able to make its pledge to reduce net immigration to less than 100,000 per year.

Scott was quoted on the BBC News website as saying: The governments current policies only look likely to reduce net migration by about 75,000 at best, which would mean that further reductions of more than 67,000 would be needed to meet the tens-of-thousands net migration target. He also added that, to achieve the target, the government will either have to further tighten immigration rules or reconsider the target or the timeframe in which they intend to deliver it.

Scott has posted at blog on this subject at Politics in Spires.
