Dr Paul Chaisty and Dr Timothy Power present their cross-regional research project on “Coalitional Presidentialism in Comparative Perspective"

Date

On 13th May 2015, Dr Paul Chaisty and Dr Timothy Power visited the Centre d'Etudes et de Recherches Internationales (CERI) of Sciences-Po, Paris, to present their cross-regional research project on “Coalitional Presidentialism in Comparative Perspective: Dynamics of Executive-Legislative Relations in Africa, Latin America and the Former Soviet Union”.

Dr Nic Cheeseman (DPIR) is also a co-PI on the ESRC-funded project. Chaisty and Power discussed the rise of minority presidentialism around the democratic world, and the challenges that presidents face in forming and maintaining stable interparty alliances. The theoretical framing and empirical findings were discussed by Dr Nicolas Sauger (CERI). Timothy Power is currently spending April-May 2015 as an OxPo fellow based at CERI, and Chaisty attended with the generous support of the Oxford Sciences Po programme (OxPo).
