Dr Nic Cheeseman discusses how politicians succumb to hubris

Date

Nic Cheeseman featured as one of three guest panelists on the 'World Update' programme (BBC World Service, 1 January) in a discussion about the danger to politicians of succumbing to the ancient Greek idea of 'hubris': the excessive pride and self-confidence that often comes before a fall.

Nic talked about his own experience of when politicians he has met did, and didn't, show signs of hubris: including the time when former Zimbabwean President Kenneth Kaunda once made him a cup of tea.
