Dr Mark Philp awarded British Academy Conference Grant

Date

Dr Mark Philp has been awarded a British Academy Conference Grant in support of his conference `Godwin Diary: Reconstructing London`s Culture 1788-1836` to be held in July 2010.

The conference marks the final stage of a three-year Leverhulme-funded research project digitizing and editing the diary which William Godwin, the philosopher, novelist, and historian kept from 1788 to 1836. The two-day conference will introduce scholars to the new resource and will explore the distinctive light the resource can shed on our understanding of late eighteenth and early nineteenth century social and political culture.
