Dr Johannes Lindvall Awarded John Fell OUP Research Fund Grant

Date

Dr Johannes Lindvall has been awarded a John Fell OUP Research Fund Small Grant for a 15-month research project on `The Politics of Welfare Reform`.

Since the 1980s, reforms within existing welfare programs has been one of the most salient issues in European politics. But reforms are more frequent in some countries than others, and they come about in different ways: through peaceful political negotiations in some states, but only after divisive political conflicts in others. The aim of this project is to explain why the frequency of reform and the nature of reform processes vary across Western Europe. The project is based on a comparison between four countries: Britain, France, Germany, and Ireland.

Dr Johannes Lindvall is Samuel Finer Post-Doctoral Fellow in Comparative Government in the Department, in association with Lincoln College.
